Karen Hundert Novick is associate dean of the School of Communication and Information. In this role she oversees all human, financial, physical, and organizational infrastructure for a school whose faculty conducts research in communication, information science, and media studies, and serves about 3,000 undergraduate majors, masters, and doctoral students. Previously she directed the continuing education program at the school; under her administration, the office offered the first online class at Rutgers University in 1996, developed several online graduate certificate programs, an online master's degree program, and a nationally-acclaimed certificate program for librarians and archivists. Earlier in her career, she was a public library director in New Jersey.
Novick's work has received funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the U.S. Department of Education, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the New Jersey Historical Commission.
