Rosanne Altshuler is professor and chair of the economics department, and an affiliated scholar of the Urban Institute. Her research focuses on federal tax policy and has appeared in numerous journals and books.
Professor Altshuler is active in the policy world, serving as director of the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, Senior Economist to the 2005 President's Advisory Panel of Federal Tax Reform, and Special Advisor to the Joint Committee on Taxation. She has testified before the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Budget Committee on tax issues and is frequently cited in the media. Professor Altshuler edited the National Tax Journal for five years, and has served as an elected member of the Board of Directors of the National Tax Association. She is currently an elected trustee of the American Tax Policy Institute.
