
Manu Samriti Chander is an Associate Professor of English at Rutgers University-Newark. He holds an MFA from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. from Brown University. His first monograph, ExternalBrown Romantics: Poetry and Nationalism in the Global Nineteenth Century (Bucknell, 2017), examined the appropriation of British Romantic tropes by colonial poets throughout the nineteenth century. He has also edited a collection of short fiction by the nineteenth-century Guyanese author, Egbert Martin (Caribbean Press, 2014), and co-edited, with Tricia A. Matthew, an Externalspecial issue of European Romantic Review on generic experimentation in Romantic abolitionist literature. Professor Chander is currently completing The Collected Works of Egbert Martin for Oxford University Press and developing a second monograph, Browntology, under contract with SUNY Press. Professor Chander serves as the department's union representative and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Newark Chapter of the Rutgers AAUP-AFT. He is also a founding member of ExternalThe Bigger 6 Collective, formed in 2017 to challenge structural racism in the academic study of Romanticism.
